Emergency Procedures

Here are the announcements and procedures to follow when inclement weather or another emergency threatens the Library.

Sometimes you will get an automated alert through the phone system from the Fire Marshal alerting the city to a imminent threat, such as a tornado warning, hail storm, etc. You can also check online, or pull out the radio we use for story time and listen for updates if you suspect there might be some inclement weather approaching.

Staff Safety

In all instances, staff should try their best to alert patrons to any danger, but must also not forgo their own safety. If you are in imminent danger, you should get yourself to safety and alert any officials necessary to the situation. Staff are not responsible for double-checking the building is clear if it risks your own safety to do so. Do your best to make sure all patrons are alerted to the problem but do not put your own life on the line unnecessarily.
