Applicants that are TCOLE certified and have previous experience may qualify for the lateral entry program. The Lateral Entry applicants starting salary will be based on their previous full-time law enforcement experience, training and specialty certifications. Out of state sworn applicants will be considered on their experience and ability to obtain TCOLE certification prior to an offer of employment. The Chief of Police will designate Lateral Entry Applicants step within the Red Oak Police Department pay scale. Lateral Entry applicants shall not have a break in service greater than 180 days and shall have two or more consecutive full-time years of experience at said agency.
Lateral Entry applicants that qualify for the lateral entry program can receive a signing bonus. Lateral Entry applicants are eligible to receive a $2500 - $4000 signing bonus depending on qualifications and upon successful completion of the FTO program.
