The Human Resources Department is charged with the responsibility of developing, maintaining, and monitoring HR programs and functions, including employee benefits, employee relations, position classification, recruitment, training, personnel records management, payroll, policy development, and volunteer programs.
In addition to its program leadership role, the Human Resources Department has the responsibility of ensuring that the City’s human resources business is conducted in a manner that is compliant with state and federal rules and regulations. In this role, Human Resources guides and monitors HR activities and transactions in areas such as recruiting, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), labor relations, and classification and pay to ensure legal compliance.
