Bio: ERIC SMITH was born in Fort Worth , Texas , the middle of three children. He graduated from Diamond Hill Jarvis High School in Fort Worth . He earned a Criminal Justice Degree from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, Advanced United States Marshal Graduate, Basic United States Marshal Graduate, Criminal Investigator Graduate and Bureau of Prison Graduate From the Federal Law Enforcement Academy Brunswick GA. Smith entered the U.S. Navy in 1981 and served on the LST U.S. 1196 Harlan County Ship, He participated in police action at Beirut, Lebanon 1982-1983, at which time he was awarded the Expeditionary Medal by the Secretary of Navy, Smith was honorable discharged in 1985 with 10% disabled veteran preference. He began his political career at 40 when he was elected to the Red Oak City Council, with an unflinching commitment to hard work and good government. Smith also served as chair of the Federal Medical Center Community Relations Board, Member of the Correctional Community, Member of Advisory Board Red Oak Texas Annexation Committee, Senior Pastor North Side Bible Fellowship 1999-2003, Threat Security Training Officer U.S. Marshal Service, Media Public Information Officer U.S. Marshal Service.  Smith’s peers recognize his ability to provide clear leadership. His public service began in the 1981 when he served in the United States Navy, 1988 Bureau of Prison, 1986 United States Postal Service and current position, 1994 United States Marshal. As a skilled listener, patient decision maker, and tireless worker Councilman Smith has also made some tough choices by putting together a fiscally responsible balanced budget during difficult economic times. His approach to the budget is no different from that of any family in Red Oak. He has set priorities, emphasizing needs over wants. Smith has dedicated his tenure to attracting new businesses and jobs, improving the quality of programs that touch the lives of children, and fighting for all the citizens of Red Oak Texas. Smith is presently pursuing his Master Degree in business.
