    CONDUCT AT FIRE STATIONS

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:  It is advantageous that the fire service present itself in a professional manner to the public. One of the most common contact points between the citizens and the fire department is the fire station. In order to project a professional image at the fire station, the following regulations will be observed.

    1. No furniture shall be allowed in front of any fire station or at any outside location that is easily viewed by the public.
    2.  Lounging in front of any fire station or at any outside location that is easily viewed by the public is prohibited.
    3.  At no time shall any member be allowed to sleep in an area that is readily viewed or accessible to the public. If such rest periods are required and approved, they will be positioned out of the view of the public.
    4. The playing of games (cards, dominoes, etc.) shall be restricted to locations outside the view of the public as much as possible.
    5. Personnel will not possess, view, distribute, or exhibit sexually oriented material, to include print, audio, computer, and/or visual materials. (Reference Texas Criminal Laws, Chapter 43, Subchapter B.)

    PERSONAL VEHICLE
WASHING PERSONAL VEHICLE:  May be done on duty according to the following:

    • After 1700 hours Monday through Friday.
    • After 1200 hours on Saturday
    • All day Sunday
    • All station duties must be done prior to any personal vehicle washing.
    • The station officer may disallow any personal vehicle washing at any time for any reason deemed prudent as his/her discretion.
    • Discretion and common sense must be used with this privilege at all times.
    • The chiefs will be specifically expected to hold accountability for all station officers or acting officers who fail to enforce proper car washing policy.

    STATION WASHING MACHINES
USE OF WASHING MACHINES:  No personal clothing or towels should be washed in the same machine used for the washing of protective clothing or medical equipment due to the contamination factor.
