MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING 

RED OAK CITY COUNCIL

TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2007 

I. CALL TO ORDER – The Mayor will call the meeting to order, declare a quorum if present, and declare notices legally posted pursuant to Open Meetings Act.

Mayor Bryce called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and declared a quorum present and declared notices legally posted.

II. INVOCATION & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Bryce gave the Invocation and led the Council and Citizens in the Pledge of Allegiance.  

III. COUNCIL BUSINESS - OPEN SESSION

A. Consideration of approving a Resolution canvassing the results of the May 12, 2007 General Election.

Councilmember Lindsey made the motion, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Goodwyn to approve Resolution 07-07:  A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RED OAK, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY ELECTION HELD ON MAY 12, 2007; ORDERING A RUNOFF ELECTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Council Incumbent Casey Hargrove was elected Councilmember Place 4 with 322 votes and Andy Bell was elected Councilmember Place 5 with 335 votes. A Runoff election would be held for Councilmember Place 2, between Incumbent Ben Goodwyn and Dawn Little.  The motion was unanimous.

IV.  OATHS OF OFFICE 

City Secretary Judy Grant gave the Oaths of Office to Casey Hargrove, Councilmember Place 4 and Andy Bell, Councilmember Place 5.
V.  ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Bryce adjourned the meeting at 6:40 P.M.
