SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
RED OAK CITY COUNCIL
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2007
I. CALL TO ORDER – The Mayor Pro Tem will call the meeting to order, declare a quorum if present, and declare notices legally posted pursuant to Open Meetings Act.
Mayor Pro Tem Goodwyn called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m. and declared a quorum present and notices legally posted. Members present were: Mayor Pro Tem Ben Goodwyn, Councilmember Scott Lindsey, Councilmember Casey Hargrove and Councilmember Andy Bell. Councilmember Eric Smith arrived during Executive Session.
II. INVOCATION & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Councilmember Hargrove gave the Invocation and Councilmember Lindsey led the Council and Citizens in the Pledge of Allegiance.
III. EXECUTIVE SESSION - The City Council shall convene into closed executive session pursuant to Section §551.074 of the Texas Government Code to deliberate the appointment, assignment, and duties of a public officer, to wit: City Manager.
Council convened into Executive Session at 2:20 P.M. and reconvened into Open Session at 2:30 P.M. Council convened into Executive Session at 3:48 P.M. after a short recess, reconvened back into Open Session at 5:00 P.M. and then recessed until 7:04 P.M. Council convened back into Open Session at 7:04 P.M. and into Executive Session at 7:05 P.M. Council convened back into Open Session the final time at 9:15 P.M.
IV. CITY COUNCIL - OPEN SESSION
A. Consideration of approving any action as a result of Executive Session.
Council and City Manager Search Committee Members discussed the qualifications of the Committee’s four candidate recommendations. Councilmember Hargrove made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Smith to direct the H.R. Director, Clifton Beck to conduct a back ground check on City Manager candidate, Scott Albert. The motion was unanimous.
V. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Pro Tem Goodwyn adjourned the meeting at 9:18 P.M.
