    OCTOBER 29, 2007 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING

    MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING 

    RED OAK CITY COUNCIL

    MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2007 

     

    I. CALL TO ORDER – The Mayor will call the meeting to order, declare a quorum if present, and declare notices legally posted pursuant to Open Meetings Act.

    Mayor Hugley called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. and declared a quorum present and notices legally posted.  Members present were Mayor Alan Hugley, Councilmember Eric Smith, Councilmember Ben Goodwyn, Councilmember Casey Hargrove and Councilmember Andy Bell.  Councilmember Lindsey Scott was not present.

    II. INVOCATION & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

    Councilmember Hargrove gave the Invocation and led the Council and Citizens in the Pledge of Allegiance.
    III. EXECUTIVE SESSION – Pursuant to the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, the City Council for the City of Red Oak reserves the right to adjourn into Executive Session at any time during the course of this meeting to discuss any of the matters listed above, as authorized by Texas Government Code Sections §551.071 (Consultation with Attorney).  
     
    In addition, the City Council will convene in Executive Session pursuant to Section §551.074 (to deliberate personnel matters), of the Texas Government Code (the “Act”), for the following:

    Deliberation on the resignation of the City Secretary.

    Council convened into Executive Session at 6:37 P.M. and reconvened into Open Session at 7:00 P.M.

    IV.  COUNCIL BUSINESS - OPEN SESSION

    A.  Consider approval of any action as a result of discussion in Executive Session.

    Councilmember Hargrove made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Goodwyn to accept the resignation of the City Secretary.  The motion was unanimous, 4-0.

    B. Consider approval authorizing the City Manager to act or appoint a temporary City Secretary.

    Councilmember Goodwyn made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Smith to approve authorization of the City Manager to act or appoint a temporary City Secretary.  The motion was unanimous, 4-0.

    C. Consider approval of organizing a City Secretary search committee.

    Councilmember Hargrove made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Bell to approve the organization of a City Secretary search committee and appointed Mayor Alan Hugley, City Manager Scott Albert and Human Resources Director Clifton Beck to the City Secretary search committee.  The motion was unanimous, 4-0.  
    V.  ADJOURNMENT

    Councilmember Goodwyn made the motion, seconded by Councilmember Smith to adjourn the meeting at 7:03 p.m.  The motion was unanimous, 4-0.
