CALL TO ORDER AND OATH OF OFFICE - 7:00 p.m. - Administrative Assistant Deannie Blake administered the Oath of Office to Carol Lou Nicholson as an Alternate Member to the Board. Chair Tdon Comer called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Members Present:
Tdon Comer, Chairman
Richard Lowe, Member
Frank Woodson, Member
Carol Lou Nicholson
Members Ron Waldrop and Homer Phillips were absent.
II. BOARD BUSINESS - OPEN SESSION
A. Consideration of approving the minutes of the Called Meeting for Thursday, April 6, 2006.
Member Lowe made the motion, seconded by Member Woodson, to approve the Minutes of the Called Meeting for Thursday, April 6, 2006. The motion was unanimous.
B. Conduct a Public Hearing and consideration of approving ZBOA Case No. 06-01 for a variance requesting a larger sign than the sign ordinance allows for the Commercial-1 (C-1) zoning district, for the Red Oak Depot, Lot 1, Block 1, Red Oak Industrial Park, Phase Three, Benjamin Frazier Survey, A-371, City of Red Oak, Ellis County, Texas, requested by Ben Little, Red Oak Depot 1, Ltd.
Staff recommended approval of the request. A memo was included in the packet from Economic Development Director, Todd Fuller. Chair Comer opened the Public Hearing. Ben Little spoke for the request. Danny Douthit, a neighboring business owner, spoke against the request. Chair Comer closed the Public Hearing. There was discussion between the Board, Mr. Little and Mr. Douthit. Member Lowe made the motion, seconded by Alternate Nicholson, to deny the request for a variance for the signage for Red Oak Depot, Lot 1, Block 1, Red Oak Industrial Park, Phase Three, Benjamin Frazier Survey, A-371, City of Red Oak, Ellis County, Texas. The motion was unanimous.
III. ADJOURNMENT - The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
