REGULAR MEETING OF THE
RED OAK PARKS & RECREATION BOARD
MINUTES
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2006 - 7:00 P.M.
CITY HALL - 200 LAKEVIEW PARKWAY
RED OAK, TEXAS
- CALL TO ORDER - 7:05 p.m. Chair Johnny Pearson, Sr. called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and declared a quorum was present. Members present were:
Chair Johnny Pearson, Sr., Daniel Bernheimer, Secretary Ginny Lindsey, Member Wedsel Groom, Member Robin Stephenson Commissioners absent: Vice-Chair Andy Bell, Alternates Max Shrank and Lydia Bryce.
- PRESENTATION - Mary Leggitt - A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to previous Parks Board Member Mary Leggitt for her past years of service on the Parks Board. Mary was not in attendance to receive this certificate.
- NEW BUSINESS - OPEN SESSION
- Consideration of approving the minutes of the August 3, 2006 Regular Parks Board Meeting. Member Groom made the motion seconded by Member Bernheimer to approve the minutes of the August 3, 2006, Regular Meeting, with a correction to the meeting start time. The motion was unanimous.
- Discussion of Founder’s Day and running the volleyball, horseshoes and washer tournaments during the day. Discussion of Founder’s Day and the events that the Parks Board is running was discussed. Discussion item only. No action taken.
- Discussion of Open Meetings Act and Open Records Act. Alternate Lydia Bryce turned in her certification forms to the City. Discussion item only. No action taken.
- CITIZENS TO BE HEARD - Comments, questions, or presentations for non-agenda items from citizens, but no action may be taken by the Parks and Recreation Board.
- STAFF AND BOARD COMMENTS AND REPORTS - Michael Hopping – Director of Parks and Recreation; Mr. Bill Skelton has turned in his resignation and his last day will be September 6th. Bill will be moving to Washington State and was thanked by Michael and the Board for his work with the City. The volleyball court and horseshoe and washer pits have been put in at Old Town Park.
- ADJOURNMENT - The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
