PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2006 - 7:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER - 7:00 p.m. - Chair Johnny Pearson, Sr. called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. and declared a quorum was present. Members present were:

Wedsel Groom, Member
Andy Bell, Vice Chair, arrived at 7:17 p.m.
Ginny Lindsey, Secretary
Daniel Bernheimer, Member
Commissioners absent were: Member Robin Stephenson, Alternate Max Schrank and Alternate Lydia Bryce
- NEW BUSINESS – OPEN SESSION
- Consideration of approving the minutes of the October 3, 2006 Regular Parks Board Meeting.
Member Groom made the motion seconded by Member Lindsey to approve the minutes of the October 3, 2006 Regular Meeting. The motion was unanimous.
- Discussion of the Christmas special event “Christmas Downtown Red Oak”.
The Board and Parks Director Michael Hopping discussed the upcoming event “Christmas Downtown Red Oak”, which includes a parade, petting zoo, pony rides, etc. Discussion item only. No action taken.
- Discussion of the work construction schedule on trails and Public Works.
Prices on construction are still being gathered for the trails, scheduled to begin after the first part of 2007. Discussion item only. No action taken.

CITIZENS TO BE HEARD - Comments, questions, or presentations for non-agenda items from citizens, but no action may be taken by the Parks and Recreation Board.

STAFF AND BOARD COMMENTS AND REPORTS Michael Hopping - Director of Parks & Recreation: Introduction of new Parks employee, Mr. Gerardo Muniz. The Parks Department is in the process of hiring a new Administrative Secretary; give update on the restroom at Old Town Park.
