CALL TO ORDER - 7:00 p.m. - Park Board Chair, Johnny Pearson, Sr. called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

- INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Carol Johnson gave the invocation. Johnny Pearson, Sr. led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
- NEW BUSINESS – OPEN SESSION
- Consideration of approving the minutes of the September 4, 2007, Regular Parks Board Meeting and September 11, 2007, and September 21, 2007, Special Park Board Meetings. Ginny Lindsey gave motion with corrections, Carol Johnson seconded, all in favor.
- Discussion and consideration of co-sponsoring Planet Kidz. Michael Hopping started the discussion because this was a venture the Parks Department had tried in the previous year with no success. Welton Douglas, a representative of Planet Kidz spoke, letting the Park Board know that they will be using a building (formerly known as Ms. Mary’s Daycare) off of Cole Road for this project. This would be a center for kids 7th thru 9th grade to go on the weekends and have adult supervision. Dances, light shows, basketball and other various games and activities would be provided. Carol Johnson gave motion, Ginny Lindsey seconded, all in favor.
- Discussion and consideration of setting a date for a barbecue for the Park Board and their families. The Board chose Thursday October 11, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. with Thursday October 18, 2007 being a back up date. Amy Hedtke gave motion, Ralph Madden seconded, all in favor.
- Discussion and consideration of purchasing park property. There is 81 acres that has interested the Park Board to take forward to the Council. Ginny Lindsey gave motion, Robin Stephenson seconded, all in favor.
- Discussion of Halloween Carnival. Was decided that Michael Hopping would be Chairman for the event and Carol Johnson would be in charge of the decorating. Spoke about volunteers to help with running the carnival. Park Board will have one more special meeting (10-16-07) to ensure that everything will be ready for the carnival.
- Discussion and consideration of approving a Halloween Carnival flyer. Park Board looked over the flyer Adam Chapa had created; suggested changes. Ginny Lindsey gave motion with changes, Carol Johnson seconded motion, all in favor.
- Discussion item only: Christmas Downtown Red Oak. If Park Board is going to have a float for the Christmas Parade, plans need to get underway. Everyone was in agreement with ordering the over-sized stocking like last year. Board also decided to get Cathy Harris involved in the planning process.
- CITIZENS TO BE HEARD - Comments, questions, or presentations for non-agenda items from citizens, but no action may be taken by the Parks and Recreation Board. No citizens present.

STAFF AND BOARD COMMENTS AND REPORTS Michael Hopping, Director of Parks & Recreation, gave an update that trash can receptacles should soon be put in the ground. DIGTESS was called and all lines have been located, waiting on the City of Glenn Heights to come and boar the holes as a community favor. We will also be getting a new mulch in the playground areas.
