Mr. Franklin is a native Texan, born and raised in Dallas, where he graduated from W. W. Samuell High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a Master of Science in Community Development with a focus in Urban Planning from Prairie View A&M University. Willie’s career focus is State and Local Government, where he has served in positions for the City of Dallas, Dallas Central Appraisal District, and the Non-Profit Housing Sector.
Willie has served as a Commissioner on the City of Red Oak’s Planning and Zoning Commission; and currently serves as a Deputy Voter Registrar, community organizer, and member of the NAACP.
Willie and his wife, Karen, settled in Red Oak in 2018 and are members of Concord Church of Dallas. With a serve first, lead second mentality, Willie is dedicated to serving on the frontline for all citizens of Red Oak.
The City of Red Oak adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 5.38 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $-40.57.
