The City of Red Oak's Public Works Department strives to provide the residents with the best possible streets in Ellis County. The Street Division performs quality maintenance of streets and drainage systems, properly maintains all traffic control devices and ensures the safe and efficient movement of traffic along city streets.
The Street Division is also responsible for street surface maintenance, cleaning and sweeping, maintaining the City drainage system - consisting of curbs and gutters, underground pipes, and drainage channels, and overseeing the maintenance and installation of traffic control signs and street markings.
Two of the traffic lights in the City of Red Oak (Methodist at Red Oak Road and Live Oak Street at Red Oak Road), part of the Red Oak Road Street Improvement Project, are maintained by the City of Red Oak. The Texas Department of Transportation maintains the other street lights since they are located on state highways.
