NOTICE OF 2018 TAX YEAR PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX RATE FOR CITY OF RED OAK



A tax rate of $0.705480 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of CITY OF RED OAK.  This rate exceeds the lower of the effective or rollback tax rate, and state law requires that two public hearings be held by the governing body before adopting the proposed tax rate.


The governing body of CITY OF RED OAK proposes to use revenue attributable to the tax rate increase for the purpose of the immediate needs for Parks and Recreational Facilities and Improvements, Street Improvements and Infrastructure, Building Acquisitions and Improvements, Equipment, Maintenance and Operations and other public purposes.

The effective tax rate is the total tax rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue for CITY OF RED OAK from the same properties in both the 2017 tax year and the 2018 tax year.

The rollback tax rate is the highest tax rate the CITY OF RED OAK may adopt before voters are entitled to petition for an election to limit the rate that may be approved to the rollback rate.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY OF RED OAK, TEXAS REGARDING THE PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2018-2019 ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET

Notice is hereby given to all interested persons that the Red Oak City Council will conduct a public hearing on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the Red Oak Municipal Center, 200 Lakeview Parkway, Red Oak, Texas, to receive public input regarding the proposed fiscal year 2018-2019 annual operating budget.

This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $1,035,821 or 17.58%, and of that amount $216,140 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.

A copy of the proposed budget will be made available for public review at the following location:  City Secretary’s Office, Red Oak City Hall, 200 Lakeview Parkway, Red Oak, Texas 75154 or at

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF RED OAK, TEXAS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES THAT:

The City of Red Oak, Texas, proposes to institute voluntary annexation proceedings to enlarge and extend the boundary limits of said city to include the following described territory, to wit:

Property Description:
210.29 acres, more or less, out of the A. Frederick Survey, Abstract 375, J. Chapman Survey, Abstract No. 214, J.S. Davis Survey, Abstract No. 923, J.S. Patton Survey, Abstract No. 842, and the James Patton Survey, Abstract No. 839, in the City of Red Oak, Ellis County, Texas, Parcel No. 183553.

Two public hearings will be held by and before the City Council of the City of Red Oak, Texas, on Monday, the 13th of August, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, the 14th of August, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Red Oak Municipal Center, located at 200 Lakeview Parkway, Red Oak, Texas, for all persons interested in the above proposed voluntary annexation.  At said time and place, all such persons shall have the right to appear and be heard.  Of all said matters and things, all persons interested in the things and matters herein mentioned will take notice.
