Administrative Bureau
The Administrative Bureau is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the administrative offices. Members of this team provide support to the Chief of Police, the Operations Bureau, Support Services Bureau, and the citizens of Red Oak. Personnel within the Administrative Bureau handle responsibilities such as accreditation, social media programs, policy research and development, training, recruitment and retention, professional standards, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned or initiated.
Professional Services Division
The Professional Standards Division of the Administrative Bureau is responsible for providing a myriad of critical services that support the mission and operations of the Red Oak Police Department. The various units of the Professional Standards Division provide a variety of support services that include recruiting, pre-employment background investigations, training, accreditation, receiving complaints, investigating internal and citizen-generated complaints of alleged misconduct against employees, and providing a host of support and functions that ensure the Department's civilian, sworn, reserve and professional staff members are properly supported in their daily duties.
Internal Affairs Unit
The primary function of the Internal Affairs Unit is to ensure the integrity of the Red Oak Police Department and its personnel through a comprehensive and objective process of investigating allegations of employee misconduct. The Internal Affairs Unit is the guardian of the agency's reputation and strives to be fair and impartial in all aspects of the investigation process. In that respect, members assigned to this unit are dedicated to the goal of properly responding to all allegations of misconduct. Internal affairs personnel perform their duties in a collaborative environment and work diligently with other personnel along with County, State, and Federal governmental agencies to uphold employment and performance standards that ensure the Red Oak Police Department continues to be staffed by the highest caliber of personnel in the law enforcement profession.
Training Unit
The Red Oak Police Department Training Unit is responsible for the training of all employees who work for the Department. This pertains to both sworn and civilian staff. The Training Unit is directly responsible for:
- Ensuring that our police officers and civilian staff receive training as required by TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement)
- Training in policy and procedures
- Legal updates
- Officer safety information
- Current trends in the law enforcement profession
Recruiting Unit
The Red Oak Police Department is a progressive law enforcement organization using modern technology, state-of-the-art equipment and comprehensive training techniques. The department is represented by personnel who are committed to reducing crime and improving the quality of life for the citizens they serve. The Red Oak Police Recruiting Unit maintains a continuously active recruitment campaign in order to compete with other employers for qualified applicants not only for actual job openings but for forecasted vacancies as well. In addition, they keep up with vacancies, authorized strength, salary, benefits, and promotional requirements within the Red Oak Police Department. The ultimate goal is the recruitment of additional community guardians that are focused on providing quality service to the citizens of Red Oak.
